Multiplying Muybridge, Audio-Visual Performance, 12-15 min, 1920 x 1080 HD, 2014-2015

Multiplying Muybridge was first performed at Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, New York for the opening of Performing Media: Works by Signal Culture Artists in Residence an exhibition curated by Signal Culture, Friday, September 19th, 2014 through January 11th, 2015.

Multiplying Muybridge is a hybrid analog/digital performance that utilizes an analog synthesizer to create real-time pattern generation in processing. Processing sends those frames then to Max/MSP for live chroma-keying. Direct changes to the audio change how you see the layers of video. Audio is controlled via interacting with the synthesizers LFO’s, depth sensors connected to control voltage to synth, and variables from drift speed from processing controls pitch on two VCOs.

Experiments in live generation of patterned chromakeys inspired by the Hearn Videolab synthesizer. Keys generated in Processing and syphoned into Max/MSP.

Experiments in digital oscillators being sent over OSC to Processing to effect pattern size. Processing then sends overall image to Max/MSP for chromakeying.
